Making the most of Q4 in your business

At the time of writing this blog post we’re heading into the final quarter of 2022.

Often Q4 comes with the rhetoric of “dragging yourself over the finish line”, and I try really hard to combat that stance…. Here’s why.

The end of the year is the BEST part of the year. It’s not something we should dread!

It comes with lots of celebrations, graduations, Christmas parties, get togethers, the chance to see people we haven't seen in months. It’s a time of bringing people together and that’s something worth looking forward to, don’t you think?

Okay, now we’ve established that we’re going to look forward to the coming months, let’s talk about how we can finish the year strong

We’ll start by stopping and asking ourselves a few questions?

  • What do I want to achieve?

  • What were my goals at the beginning of the year?

  • Am I any closer to them now?

  • Which goals are my top priority?

  • What steps do I need to take to get closer to achieving them by the end of year?

Now you might have set a goal back in January that was completely over the top and you feel like there’s no way you could achieve it now. That’s fine… but this doesn’t mean you should give up on it all together.

How can you get yourself at least a little bit closer to that goal than you are right now?

If you get even a fraction closer, it’s going to make reaching the end of the year so much sweeter.

Here’s an example: Perhaps you had a goal around your time and said you were going to have every Friday off in 2022. If that hasn’t happened, can you still pick three Fridays between now and the end of the year where it definitely will, and you can put into place a plan to make sure that those three Fridays are protected for YOU.

Whatever your goals were in January, I encourage you to think about how you can put in place one action each week to get you closer to them come the end of 2022.

We can always find excuses and blame other people for depleting us and draining us of our energy. But you’re the person that’s making the choice as to where you’re investing that energy. Invest it wisely!

It might be the countdown until Christmas, but it’s also still only September. There is plenty of time to actively think about the changes you can make now to finish the year strong and also set you up for success heading in to 2023.

My hope is that we can all head into the festive period feeling energised, satisfied with our achievements and ready to celebrate the year that was! And after that? You’ll be ready to hit 2023 full throttle!

So are we in agreement? No “dragging ourselves across the finish line” approach to Q4. Right?!

Onwards and upwards, friends!
